Topic - Time to Celebrate
Our topic this Autumn term will be focussing on celebrations her in Wales and around the world.
We will be completing activities to help us answer the question 'What is a Celebration?'
we will be learning to write in clear sentences, use phonics to support reading and writing and use our imaginations to engage the reader. In Maths, we will start by focusing on place value and the four operations.
Our P.E. Sessions will be on a Tuesday morning
Forest Schools will be on a Wednesday afternoon, please make sure they have wellies.
Children should bring their reading books in every day.

Summer Term 2023
It is our last term in Year 2... Our topic this term will be EXTREME EARTH.
We will begin our topic by researching into the weather in our own country before researching into the weather across the world. In Year 2, we are excited to learn about NATURAL DISASTERS. Keep an eye on this page or on Seesaw to see what we are learning!
Just a reminder - We will continue to have FOREST SCHOOLS lessons on an Monday afternoon and our PE sessions will be on a Tuesday. As the weather gets warmer, please could you provide a hat and water bottle to ensure that your children are kept safe in the warm weather.
Thank you for your support over the past two terms with helping your child to learn to read. Please continue to return reading books to school every day.
Welcome back to the Spring term in Year 2. Our topic is 'With great Power comes Responsibility'. We will be sepending our term looking at the life of the Celts. We have already had a visitor from the past. She was able to talk about her life from the past!

Welcome to Year 2 - 2022/2023
Welcome to the Year 2 website page for Cwmaman Primary School. Here, you will find information about our class and also photographs that show some of the learning that we participate in at school.
In the Year 2 class, there are 31 children and 2 members of staff - Mrs Connor and Mrs Jones.
We have Forest schools sessions on a Monday afternoon - Please bring Wellies or old shoes to school.
On Tuesday, we have PE. PE will be in the hall for the Autumn term. Please could PE kits be brought into school at the beginning of every half term. They will be returned at the end of each half term to be washed.
We ask that reading books be returned daily. We will read with your child on a daily basis. It is important that your child has the chance to read on a daily basis.
Fruit can be brought into school for 'tuck'. Children in the Foundation Phase have milk at break-time, they will be able to eat their fruit during this time.
Children are welcome to bring water to school in a refillable bottle. They will be able to access this throughout the day.

Autumn Term 2021
We are a class of 28 children with three members of staff - Mrs Connor, Mrs Jones and Mrs Howells.
This term we will be working to develop our Literacy and Numeracy skills through the topic of Super Heroes! Keep an eye on this website, Seesaw and Twitter to keep up-to-date with our adventures in Year 2!
Welcome to Year 2!
Autumn 2020
This term the children have become architects and have been designing different buildings using various construction resources. They have investigated different foundation materials using a lego house and have helped the Three Little Pigs by sorting different materials that could be useful to build a new house.
In Maths, we have been learning how to partition hundreds, tens and units, investigating 2d shapes and using them to make 3d shapes and using simple number facts to help us work out bigger numbers.
In Literacy, we have been writing retells of The Three Little Pigs and Town Mouse and Country Mouse. We have been using Seesaw to record us retelling different stories. We have written instructions how to build a house and writing letters.
We are following Joe Wicks P.E.sessions to help us to keep fit and having been learning how to throw, run and jump in different ways. The children also enjoy learning and playing outside.
